Barbet dog in front of a mallard (Chien barbet devant un colvert), detail, oil painting on canvas, by Jean Baptiste Simeon Chardin, 1699-1779, in a private collection, France. In this hunting scene, a dog approaches a dead mallard, which forms a still life element with a rifle and hunting bag.
