Baskets of bones, Tomb of Sarenput II, Qubbet el-Hawa, Aswan
Reed baskets with human bones at the entrance of the second pillared hall, in the tomb of Sarenput II, a nomarch or governor during the reigns of pharaohs Senusret II and III, 12th dynasty, Middle Kingdom, 1991-1778 BC, at the Tombs of the Nobles, a necropolis for nobility and priests from the Old and Middle Kingdoms of Ancient Egypt, at Qubbet el-Hawa, or Dome of the Wind, beside the river Nile, near Aswan, Egypt. The site holds around 100 tombs, the oldest being from the 4th dynasty, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
