Battle of Guastalla, fought 1734 between Franco-Sardinian and Austrian Habsburg troops in the War of Polish Succession, detail, oil painting on canvas, 1743-45, by Jan Peeter Verdussen, in the Camera di Parata della Duchessa, or Parade Room of the Duchess, at the Royal Palace of Venaria, or Reggia di Venaria Reale, a royal residence of the House of Savoy, built from 1675 in Baroque style by Amedeo di Castellamonte, for Carlo Emanuele II duke of Savoy, in Venaria Reale, Piedmont, Italy. The palace was restored 1999-2007 and is now a visitor attraction. It is part of the House of Savoy UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
