The deceased, supported by St Michael, recites a prayer to the Virgin Mary, painting in Funeral recess by Gervais de Larchamp, 15th Century, Romanesque Crypt, 11th century, Bayeux Cathedral (Notre Dame de Bayeux), 11th-19th century, Bayeux, France. In Bayeux Cathedral, dedicated 1077, William the Conqueror forced Harold to take the oath which led to the Norman Conquest of England.
