William duke of Normandy's warships travel to England, carrying horses and soldiers to attack king Harold II, in 1066, detail from the Bayeux Tapestry, a 70m long embroidery, commissioned 1070s, depicting the Norman Conquest in 58 scenes with medieval latin tituli or captions, in the Bayeux Museum, or Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux, in Bayeux, Calvados, Normandy, France.
