Bell tower, 12th century, Romanesque, of the Cathedral of St Domnius, consecrated 7th century AD, built on the mausoleum of Diocletian (right), 305 AD, seen from the Ethnographic Museum, in Split, Croatia. Split was founded as a Greek colony in 3rd century BC, was the seat of Roman emperor Diocletian from 305 AD and was later ruled by Byzantines, Venetians and Dalmatians.
