Blue Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey
Sultan Ahmed Mosque, or Blue Mosque in the evening, an Ottoman mosque built 1609-16 by Sedefkar Mehmed Agha, Fatih, Istanbul, Turkey. Built near the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque combines Byzantine style with Islamic architecture. The blue tiles of the interior inspired its popular name, The Blue Mosque.
