Bozcaada castle, Bozcaada, Turkey
Bozcaada Castle on the island of Bozcaada or Tenedos in the Aegean Sea, Turkey. The castle was built to protect the mouth of the Dardanelles Strait in the time of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror, although there were previous Phoenician ruins on the site. It has been used by the Byzantines, Venetians and Genoans and was largely rebuilt in the reign of Mahmut II, c. 1815. Picture by Manuel Cohen
