British Museum, built in Greek Revival style by Robert Smirke, 1780-1867, on Great Russell St, Bloomsbury, London, England, UK. The central entrance portico with sculptures by Richard Westmacott, 1775-1856, was built in 1852 in Greek temple style, with columns with Ionic capitals and a pediment. The British Museum was established in 1753. It houses one of the largest public collections of art, history, culture and archaeology in the world and is the most visited museum in the world.
