Broch of Gurness, an Iron Age village with broch tower surrounded by ramparts and ditches, built 500-200 BC, aerial view, Mainland, Orkney, Scotland. The settlement probably held around 14 houses for around 40 families, and is situated overlooking Eynhallow Sound to defend against invaders, along with many other brochs.
