Bryggen, Bergen, Norway
Bryggen Hansa district, the old quayside of the town, with colourful painted buildings, in Bergen, Vestland, Norway. The area burned down in a fire in 1702 and the buildings were rebuilt in the original Hanseatic style. From the 13th century, Bergen was a bureau city of the Hanseatic League and an important trading centre. Bryggen is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
