Budva, Montenegro
Old town of Budva, aerial view, on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro. On the right is the Citadel, or fortress of St Mary, built from the 9th century to protect the town from attacks by sea, with some 15th century sections remaining. The area was part of the Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Venetian and Habsburg empires. It is now a popular tourist area, with many southern Adriatic beaches in the Budva Riviera area.
