Bukhara
Madrasah of Ulugbeg, 1420, Bukhara, Uzbekistan, pictured on July, 2010 in the afternoon. Located east of Po-Kalyan Square, its architect was Ismail ibn Tahir ibn Mahmud Isfakhani. The facade is emphasized by the portal, two-storey loggias and corner towers. In 1586, in the reign of Abdullah-Khan II, the madrasah was reconstructed and its facades were decorated with enameled bricks and majolica. Bukhara, a city on the Silk Route is about 2500 years old.
