Bukhara
Oblique view from the front of the Abdullah-Khan Madrasah, 1589-90, Bukhara, Uzbekistan, pictured on July 10, 2010 in the morning. Two tiers of arched loggias flank the main gate of the Madrasah, which was built by Abdullah-Khan II. Towers buttress the corners and frame the composition. All are decorated with the majolica, mosaic inlay and glazed brickwork typical of Timurid constructions of this period. Bukhara, a city on the Silk Route is about 2500 years old.
