Buontalenti grotto, first room in Mannerist style with the theme of nature and metamorphosis, detail, built 1583-93 by Bernardo Buontalenti, in the Giardino di Boboli or Boboli Gardens, a park opened to the public in 1766, in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. The Boboli Gardens were designed and built for the Medici family and are next to the Pitti Palace, their family home. They were begun in the mid 16th century and made by Niccolo Tribolo, Bartolomeo Ammanati, Giorgio Vasari and Bernardo Buontalenti.
