Bureau de Gustave, office of Pierre Loti's brother Gustave, also known as the Chambre Oceanienne, with reconstruction of his cabin on the ship Flore, in which he travelled to the Pacific in 1872, at the Maison de Pierre Loti, home of Pierre Loti, born Louis Marie-Julien Viaud, 1850-1923, French writer and naval officer, in Rochefort, Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Loti was born in the house and decorated it with collections from his travels in Europe, Arabia and Asia. It is now a municipal museum, restored from 2012, and reopened 2025, and is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
