Cameras of Howard Carter including full-plate studio camera 1900-20; half-plate camera and tripod 1910-20; stereoscopic cards and viewer 1900-20; small format cameras 1920-40, wooden holder for half-plate glass negatives 1920s; wire holder for processing half-plate negatives 1930s, at the House of Howard Carter, 1874-1939, British archaeologist and Egyptologist, in the Theban necropolis, Thebes, Luxor, Egypt. Carter worked for Lord Carvarvon from 1907 excavating tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun. The house is now a museum and includes a replica of the Tomb of Tutankhamun. Thebes is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
