Holiday Inn Express (left) on the Canal de la Villette, and boats (right) moored in the harbour of the Bassin de la Villette or La Villette Basin, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. The basin is a large artificial lake linking the Canal de l'Ourcq to the Canal Saint-Martin, dug in the early 19th century and filled in 1808 to provide the city of Paris with fresh drinking water.
