Medici Chapel at the Cappella dei Principi, with octagonal dome designed by Matteo Nigetti, c.1560s-1648, and built 1604-40, at the Basilica of San Lorenzo, in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. The Cappella dei Principi was designed by Matteo Nigetti, 1560/70n"1648, Baroque architect. The Medici Chapels or Cappelle Medicee, celebrate the the Medici family, patrons of the church and Grand Dukes of Tuscany, and house their family mausoleums.
