Traces of a rounded seam, where a monarchical symbol, the cross of the Order of the Holy Spirit, was removed and replaced with a rosette design, using rentraiture process, detail of the carpet from the choir of the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris, at the Atelier de Rentraiture de Tapis, Mobilier National, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. The 15m long carpet was woven 1824-33 and is used only on special occasions. It required some restoration to the edges and a small number of holes. Picture by Manuel Cohen
