Traces of a rounded seam, where a monarchical symbol, the cross of the Order of the Holy Spirit, was removed and replaced, using rentraiture process, and reverse side (bottom), detail of the carpet from the choir of the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris, at the Atelier de Rentraiture de Tapis, Mobilier National, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. The 15m long carpet was woven 1824-33 and is used only on special occasions. It required some restoration to the edges and a small number of holes. Picture by Manuel Cohen
