Maeshowe dragon or lion, carved c. 1150 by Norsemen, with both Romanesque and Viking influences, on the north west wall of the main chamber of the tomb at Maeshowe, a Neolithic chambered cairn containing a monumental tomb, built c. 2800 BC, near Stenness on Mainland, Orkney, Scotland.
