Ceiling stucco, King's Bedchamber, Chateau de
Gold stucco ceiling decoration with putto, in the King's Bedchamber, in the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, designed by Louis Le Vau, 1612-70, and built 1658-61 for marquis Nicolas Fouquet, in Maincy, Seine-et-Marne, France. Charles Le Brun painted the ceiling, Truth Supported by Time, representing Fouquet's allegiance to the King, with gold plasterwork surrounding the panels. The chateau is built in Baroque style, with decoration by Charles Le Brun, 1619-90, and grounds designed by landscape architect Andre le Notre, 1613-1700.
