Chateau de Chinon

Fort du Coudray, Tour du Coudray and Tour du Moulin (left-right), at the Chateau de Chinon or Forteresse royale de Chinon, aerial view, on the Vienne river, Indre-et-Loire, France. The chateau was founded in the 11th century by Theobald I, count of Blois. King Henry II of England lived and died here in the 12th century and the chateau has been out of use since the late 16th century. The building consists of 3 enclosures (Coudray, Milieu and Saint-Georges) separated by dry moats, and natural defenses on 3 sides with a ditch dug on the 4th.
