Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte and gardens, Maincy
South or garden facade of the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, designed by Louis Le Vau, 1612-70, and built 1658-61 for marquis Nicolas Fouquet, in Maincy, Seine-et-Marne, France, seen from the formal gardens. The oval Grand Salon with its dome can be seen in the centre of the South facade. The chateau is built in Baroque style, with decoration by Charles Le Brun, 1619-90, and grounds designed by landscape architect Andre le Notre, 1613-1700.
