Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte and its fountains and gardens, detail from a portrait of Marie Leczinska Queen consort of France, wife of Louis XV, 1728, in the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, designed by Louis Le Vau, 1612-70, and built 1658-61 for marquis Nicolas Fouquet, in Maincy, Seine-et-Marne, France. The chateau is built in Baroque style, with decoration by Charles Le Brun, 1619-90, and grounds designed by landscape architect Andre le Notre, 1613-1700.
