Chinese lion statue, 1888 by Alfred-Nicolas Normand at the entrance to the Chinese museum in the Cour de la Fontaine at the Chateau de Fontainebleau, France. In the background is the octagonal pavilion on the Carp Pond. The Palace of Fontainebleau is one of the largest French royal palaces and was begun in the early 16th century for Francois I.
