The Annunciation to St Anne, who is in her room with her servant, by Jean Soulas, upper scene from the choir screen, 1519-25, Chartres Cathedral, Eure-et-Loir, France. These sculpted scenes show the change in style from Gothic to Renaissance in the early 16th century in France. Chartres cathedral was built 1194-1250 and is a fine example of Gothic architecture.
