Colossi of Memnon, 18m high colossal seated statues of Amenhotep III, 9th pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, built 1350 BC, New Kingdom, sandstone, at the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III in the Theban Necropolis, Thebes, Luxor, Egypt. Smaller statues of Amenhotep's wife Tiye and mother Mutemwiya stand beside the statues. They were built to guard the entrance to Amenhotep's mortuary temple at Thebes.
