The Commune of Siena holding an orb and sceptre and dressed in the black and white colours of the city. Lorenzetti was commissioned by the Council of Nine to produce allegorical frescoes covering 3 of the 4 walls of their council chamber, and he produced 6 scenes on the 3 fresco panels.
