Gunhild's Cross, or Gunhildkorset, a crucifix in walrus ivory, Danish, c. 1150, in the National Museum of Denmark, or Nationalmuseet, Copenhagen, Denmark. It was made by Luitger for Gunhild, daughter of king Svend III of Denmark and is carved with runes, Latin inscriptions and bible scenes. On the rear (here) is a Last Judgement scene and medallion scenes of heaven, hell, the saved and the damned. The figure of Christ is missing from the front. Picture by Manuel Cohen
