Defensive wall, Vastergarn, Gotland, Sweden
Medieval semi-circular defensive wall and embankment, c. 1km long, built c. 1000 AD, surrounding the church and Viking trading post of Vastergarn and opening to the sea, on the island of Gotland, Sweden. The wall was originally 3m wide and 3m high, and is the only one on Gotland. The trading post was moved here from Paviken at the end of the 9th century and abandoned at the end of the 13th century.
