Palazzo Ducale or Doge's Palace, a Venetian Gothic 14th century palace (right), Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, or National Library of St Mark's, a 16th century Renaissance library (left) on the Piazzetta San Marco, Venice, Italy. On the water's edge are the Columns of San Todaro and San Marco, with statues of the Byzantine saint San Teodoro Amasea and St Mark the evangelist in the form of a winged lion, 12th century, by Nicolo Barattieri.
