Edition of Le Canard Enchaine, satirical newspaper
Front page of Le Canard Enchaine, issue number 1838, 37th year, published 11th January 1956, with headlines and cartoons referring to Pierre Poujade, whose party won 52 seats in the 1956 election. The newspaper's title has been changed to Le Canard Empoujade, as Poujadism was on the ascendance. Le Canard Enchaine is a satirical weekly newspaper, founded in 1915 during the First World War by Maurice Marechal, Jeanne Marechal and H P Gassier.
