Femur of Tollund Man, a mummified man who died 405-384 BC, discovered in 1950 in Bjældskovdal peat bog near Silkeborg, detail, in Silkeborg Museum, a Danish history museum housed in Silkeborg Manor, in Silkeborg, Midtjylland, Jutland, Denmark. The femur was used for isotope analysis to date the body. Tollund Man died from hanging and the rope remains around his neck, otherwise he wears a sheepskin cap and a belt. His body was remarkably well preserved on excavation although today the body is a reconstruction and only the head original. Picture by Manuel Cohen
