The Medici Chapels, part of the San Lorenzo Basilica, house the Medici Mausoleum. The octagonal dome, 59 metres high, surmounting the Cappella dei Principi was designed by Matteo Nigetti (c.1560s-1648) and built 1604-40. Picture by Manuel Cohen
