Font, Neonian Baptistery, Ravenna, Italy
Octagonal marble baptismal font with pulpit, in the Battistero Neoniano or Neonian Baptistery, an octagonal brick building on an original Roman bath, built late 4th century under bishop Ursus then late 5th century under bishop Neon, in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Between the windows are stucco shrines to prophets, and in the arcosolia, an altar and Roman vase repurposed as a font, surrounded by mosaic inscriptions from the Book of Psalms.
