Fontaine du Soleil, or Sun Fountain, 1956, by Alfred Janniot, with nude statue of the god Apollo and bronze sculptures of planets Earth, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Saturn, on Place Massena, a large square built 1843-44 designed by Joseph Vernier, bordered by Italian style arcaded buildings painted red ochre, in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France. In the square are 7 tall poles with statues representing continents, 2007, by Jaume Plensa. Nice is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
