Deisis, Christ as righteous judge with Virgin Mary and St John the Baptist, both begging for forgiveness of human sins at final judgement, fresco, in Agios Nikolaos Tis Stegis, or the Church of St Nicholas of the Roof, a Byzantine monastery built 11th century, near Kakopetria, in the Solea valley of the Troodos mountains, Cyprus. The katholikon or monastery church was built in cross-in-square style with a pitched roof added later, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
