St Agapitus, d. 274 AD, early christian martyr, medallion fresco in an arch spandrel in the nave of the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, built early 6th century under king Theodoric the Great and rededicated to St Apollinaris in 856 AD, in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The lateral walls of the nave of the church are covered in 6th century Byzantine mosaics. The church is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
