Fresco, Chapterhouse, Le Puy Cathedral, Le Puy-en-Velay
Byzantine style crucifixion fresco, c. 1200, with the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea and Philo Judaeus or Philo of Alexandria, in the vaulted chapterhouse off the cloister, in the Cathedrale Notre-Dame du Puy, or Le Puy Cathedral, Le Puy-en-Velay, Haute-Loire, Rhone-Alpes-Auvergne, France. The cathedral was built 11th - 13th century in Romanesque style, with a striking striped 3-layered facade and large cloister. It is a national monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route. Picture by Manuel Cohen
