Fresco of Danae with Jupiter represented by a golden shower (together they will have a son, Perseus), the only fresco in this gallery by Francesco Primaticcio, 1504-70, in the Galerie Francois I, begun 1528, the first great gallery in France and the origination of the Renaissance style in France, Chateau de Fontainebleau, France. The Palace of Fontainebleau is one of the largest French royal palaces and was begun in the early 16th century for Francois I. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
