Western wall with scenes from the Life of the Virgin, Virgin and Christ enthroned with donor and St John the Baptist (painted at a later date), fresco, 1376-78, by Giusto de Menabuoi, 1320-91, in the Padua Baptistery, in Padua, Veneto, Italy. The 12th century building was reworked 1370-79 as a mausoleum for prince Francesco il Vecchio da Carrara and his wife Fina Buzzaccarini, who commissioned the frescoes. Picture by Manuel Cohen
