Fresco cycle, 1376-78, by Giusto de Menabuoi, 1320-91, in the Padua Baptistery, in Padua, Veneto, Italy. In the dome is Paradise, with Christ Pantocrator, Virgin Mary, angels and saints, and on the walls are the Lives of John the Baptist, Christ and the Virgin and scenes from Genesis, Pentecost and the Apocalypse. The 12th century building was reworked 1370-79 as a mausoleum for prince Francesco il Vecchio da Carrara and his wife Fina Buzzaccarini, who commissioned the frescoes. Picture by Manuel Cohen
