Allegory of Faith Arriving in the New World, with 2 sailors, 4 evangelists and Faith holding chalice and cross, helped off a lifeboat by Christopher Columbus, ceiling fresco, 1623–25, by Bernardo Strozzi, 1581-1644, commissioned by Luigi Centurione and later covered, revealed in 2002, in the central hall of the Palazzo Podesta, or Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino, built 1559-65 in Mannerist style, by Giovan Battista Castello and Bernardino Cantone, on the Via Garibaldi, in the Le Strade Nuove in Genoa, Liguria, Italy. The Strade Nuove or New Streets area, housing many palaces or Palazzi dei Rolli, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
