Inkwells of evangelists Matthew and Mark on a pendentive and saints on the arches including St Aphthous (top right), frescoes, 12th century, in the Panagia tou Araka, a late 12th century Byzantine katholikon monastery church, near Lagoudera, in the Troodos mountains, Cyprus. The frescoes were commissioned by Leo Authentes and painted by a monk named Theodoros Apsevdis, completed 1192 and restored in the 14th century. The church is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
