Bringing the Rods to the Temple, with suitors presenting their rods to the priest for the miracle of choosing the Virgin's husband, fresco, 1304-6, by Giotto di Bondone, c. 1267-1337, in the Cappella degli Scrovegni, or Scrovegni Chapel, at the Monastero degli Eremitani, in Padua, Veneto, Italy. The chapel was built by Enrico Scrovegni as a private oratory and funerary monument, consecrated 1303. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
