Crowned knight with horse trampling a figure in front of a crowned woman, representing the victory of Christianity over Islam or paganism, with fleur de lys background, fresco, late 12th century, in the Templar Chapel at the Commanderie de Cressac or Commanderie du Dognon, at Le Temple, in Cressac-Saint-Genis, Charente, France. The chapel was built 1150-60 by the Templars on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route and was originally part of a commandery, providing funds to support the Knights Hospitallers in the crusades in the Holy Land.
