Funerary stela with inscription in Hebrew for son of rabbi Joseph, limestone, date unknown, in the Palais-Musee des Archeveques de Narbonne, in Narbonne, Aude, Occitania, France. Jews from Baghdad were invited to settle in Narbonne by Pepin the Short in the 8th century, and a Jewish centre of learning was established in the city. The Palais des Archeveques or Archbishop's Palace, built 12th - 14th century, now houses the city hall and museums and is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
