Graffiti, Saga Oseberg, Vikingodden, Tonsberg, Vestfold
Man dressed in replica Viking clothing, holding a wooden plank from the deck by the bow, with graffiti of animals, aboard the Saga Oseberg, a reconstruction of the Viking Oseberg Ship, built 2010-12 using traditional Viking methods, at Vikingodden, a shipyard run by Oseberg Viking Heritage, at Tonsberg, on the west coast of the Oslofjord, Jarlsberg, Vestfold, Norway. The Oseberg Ship or Osebergskipet is a karve type clinker built ship in oak, built in the early 9th century. It was excavated in 1904 from a burial mound in the Slagen valley near Tonsberg, and the original is exhibited at the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo. Picture by Manuel Cohen
